Frequently Asked Questions
Which citation styles does this tool support?
The tool generates citations for the three most widely required academic styles: MLA (Modern Language Association), APA (American Psychological Association), and Chicago. All three formats are optimized for website and online article citations.
What if I don't know the author or publication date?
Leave those fields blank and the tool will substitute the correct placeholder according to each style guide — "n.d." (no date) for APA, "N.p." for MLA where no publisher is listed, and so on.
Is the citation generator accurate?
The tool follows the official guidelines for each style. However, citation rules are updated periodically (e.g., MLA 9th edition, APA 7th edition). Always cross-check against your institution's required edition if precise conformance is essential.
Can I use this for books, journals, or other sources?
Currently the generator is optimized for website and online article citations. Book and journal formats follow different rules (volume numbers, page ranges, DOIs, etc.) and will be added in a future update.
